Surrender isn’t easy. In fact, it often feels like jumping off a cliff without a safety harness, and trusting that something—or Someone—will catch you when you fall. There have been many moments in my life where I felt the weight of wanting to control everything around me, only to learn the hard way that true peace comes through surrender. It’s in the yielding to the Holy Spirit that we find our deepest trust, and in that trust, we discover transformation.
Ecclesiastes 7:8 reminds us, “The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride.”
Surrender often feels like an uncomfortable beginning, a letting go of control and stepping into the unknown. But in the waiting, God teaches us patience, and through that patience, He reveals something more beautiful and lasting than we could have ever imagined in the beginning. The process is hard, but the end is far more fulfilling and beautiful!
Letting go of control isn't just about relaxing—it's about actively choosing to trust. There are areas in my life I've hesitated to give over to God because I've taken risks and felt unsupported. Did I jump too early? I ended up with some bumps and bruises. After that, it's hard to trust that God knows best. We can say we trust God and that He'll always have our back, but do we truly believe it? Faith is about believing, and believing means taking action. Real faith is deep and involves a relationship with God. That's your safety net, knowing that if you fall, He's got you. I've fallen, but I'm still standing. I'm okay. The damage can be fixed. God is a healer and redeemer.
When we humbly surrender, transformation may be gradual but ultimately profound. Our thoughts and beliefs will change because we've been through the fire. The more we yeild the more we see things from God’s perspective. And in that process, fear and doubt are burnt away. We finally see that in the end result that His plan was far better than anything we could control on our own.
Surrendering isn’t about waiting for a breakthrough or outcome—it’s about learning to rest in His faithfulness every step of the way. I’ve learned that true joy isn’t found in the destination, but in the peace that comes from trusting God with every twist and turn. Even in the uncertainty, I’ve learned to laugh at the future because I know who holds it.
In moments of intense pressure and heat, I often remind myself that diamonds are made under these very conditions. God is refining me, shaping me into something more beautiful and valuable than I could ever imagine. The struggle, the discomfort, the unknown are all part of His process of making me who He’s called me to be.
If you’re in the midst of surrender today, I want to encourage you—don’t be afraid of the process. While it may be scary or painful and challenging, it’s also where the transformation happens. Let go of the need to control, and let God do what only He can do. Trust that His wisdom and His timing are perfect, and know that the transformation He is working in you will be worth it.
Proverbs 31:25 says, “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” I think about how surrender ultimately leads to that kind of strength. It’s a strength born not from our own efforts, but from God’s faithfulness. As we surrender, we are clothed in His peace, and we begin to walk forward with confidence, knowing that the days to come are in His hands.
My friend, you are a DIAMOND in process! Shine bright in your SURRENDER!
